South Ken ZEN+ is embedding climate knowledge and action across its membership through Carbon Literacy® training.

Since 2025, 30 people from 11 different member institutions have become Carbon Literate, with 8 people trained as Carbon Literacy trainers themselves. These trainers are now cascading their knowledge within their own organisations, creating a growing network of carbon literacy across South Kensington's cultural and educational district.

Carbon Literacy® equips individuals, communities, and organisations with the knowledge and skills to take meaningful climate action and support the transition to a low-carbon future. Developed by the Carbon Literacy Project and recognised as a globally unique initiative by the UN at COP21, the training empowers participants to make informed choices in both professional and personal contexts.

One participant said:

The training was incredibly valuable - hearing what organisations are doing was really motivating, and being in the room together helped to soften the weight of the facts. It created a real sense of 'we're all in this together'.  By the end I felt really empowered to take action in my own way.

Through this programme, South Ken ZEN+ is helping embed low-carbon thinking at every level of its partner institutions - from day-to-day operational decisions to longer-term strategic planning - creating a lasting impact across the district.

The training is offered free of charge to staff of members of the Exhibition Road Cultural Group. Sign up and find the dates here.
