The Design Museum is reducing its carbon footprint by making plant-based food a central part of its catering offer.

Working with its caterers, the museum now ensures that at least 70% of menu options are vegetarian or vegan, supporting more sustainable eating habits across its events and public spaces. This commitment has been extended to its latest exhibition, More than Human, which explores our relationship with the environment and non-human life. Visitors can enjoy a specially created fully vegetarian and vegan afternoon tea menu, aligning the exhibition experience with the museum’s wider sustainability goals.

Food production and consumption is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, with plant-based diets offering a significantly lower environmental impact than meat-heavy alternatives. By foregrounding vegetarian and vegan choices, the museum is both reducing its own carbon impact and encouraging visitors to consider the role of food in shaping a more sustainable future.
