Westminster City Council
Wilder Westminster brings together organisations of all sizes, spanning the public, private and third sectors, as well as universities. Some members contribute financial resources, while others bring expertise, time and local knowledge. The network is designed to ensure these strengths flow between initiatives with a shared goal: enhancing biodiversity and improving access to nature across Westminster.
Westminster City Council hosted the first Wilder Westminster event in February 2025, convening key stakeholders for a programme of talks and workshops. Following this initial event, the network continued to develop through a series of collaborative actions. A shared Padlet was created as a platform for communication and resource-sharing, and a second event was co-hosted at the Royal Geographical Society in collaboration with South Ken ZEN+. A cross-sector steering group was also established, with representatives from local authorities, charities, private organisations and academic institutions. The next network meeting will be hosted by The Crown Estate in February 2026.
Since its launch, Wilder Westminster has already supported tangible outcomes. New partnerships have emerged, including Westminster City Council’s collaboration with National Park City and the rehoming of trees from The Crown Estate along Regent Street. Members have shared tools and resources through the network, including the Imperial Decision Tree, and have contributed feedback to Westminster City Council’s Greening and Biodiversity Action Plan. More recently, Greenspace Information for Greater London (GiGL) invited the network to pilot a new mapping tool focused on connecting greening projects across London.

By strengthening connections between people, projects and places, Wilder Westminster supports a more joined-up approach to nature recovery. The network not only benefits biodiversity, but also helps staff across participating organisations feel better connected, informed and supported in delivering their own greening work.
